Frozen Lake Peräjärvi
Ice roads and racing on the frozen lake
Overview
Lake Peräjärvi is completely frozen during the winter setting of My Winter Car. This opens up new driving opportunities including ice roads that serve as shortcuts across the lake, and an ice track where racing events are held. The frozen lake is one of the unique features that distinguishes My Winter Car from its predecessor.
Ice Roads
Ice roads cross the frozen lake, providing shortcuts between different areas of the map:
- Connect the ventti cabin area to Kesselinperä
- Faster travel than going around the lake by road
- Require careful driving - ice is slippery!
- Studded winter tires highly recommended
Ice Track Racing
An ice track is set up on the lake surface between the Peräjärvi town center and the cottage island:
- Folk race events held every other weekend
- Compete against other drivers
- Win prizes and earn money
- Test your driving skills on ice
See the Racing Guide for more details on events and preparation.
Driving Tips
- Use studded winter tires for best grip on ice
- Drive slowly - ice is very slippery
- Brake early - stopping distance is much longer on ice
- Avoid sudden movements - gentle steering and throttle
- Stay on marked routes - ice thickness may vary
Safety Warnings
⚠️ Ice Driving Hazards:
- Losing control can send you into snowbanks or off the ice
- Getting stuck on the lake in cold weather is dangerous
- Always ensure your car is in good condition before crossing
- Keep fuel tank full - running out on the ice is bad
